Re: Mooreton bay - Gold Coast Ramp/trailer parking?

Paul
Congrats on your beer tastes - all except the Bitburger. There are plenty of better German beers around :D . Keep drinking the Hansa and Altenmunster please. Have you tried Erdinger?

Re: Bay to Bay 2011

Good advice John, we drove home from Bundy this morning, calling in on friends at Tin Can. We came down the Cooloola Sands road and spent quite a bit of time dodging the potholes, slowing down for the gravel bits etc. Tip-Sea won't be doing the B2B this year but the crew may give it a go next year. ...

Re: 18th Surf to City

Sure we had to stop for 2 ships and we were doing the 15.4 under headdie only. You think you did 15k under headdie and main. We sailed from Peel under headdie, no main, all the way home just to give you a chance to catch up and we had no damage to sails. Handicap - only the ones ...

Re: 18th Surf to City

Hey Andy P, heard the only way you were able to catch up to Tip-Sea was by arranging for 2 ships to come through the channel just before they were going to cross. Nigel and crew weren't impressed.  They arrived back at Sandgate with no injuries and no damage to boat or sails luckily, but...

Hi Lorri
Going back a few years we used to come across a t/s called Enya around Moreton Bay, they had a couple of small dogs and a duck on board. Wonder if it's the same one.

Hi Lorri I call the thingies "modesty panels". Upsets those we go cruising with that have them no end. I'm glad other people call thingies, thingies. I had a total mental block one night and got a real laugh out of everyone when I was trying to ask whether the masthead light was on and I had only ha...

Geoff Beautiful bimini (trimini), would never be without ours now when we are cruising. On Airtime it looks like the main sheet is still at the back of the boom and through the top of the bimini. What happens when you are sailing 'cause the boom is not often in the same position as in the photo? Mig...

Thanks Jay, I don't feel so bad now. You bet I was happy to go to Raby Bay - it's in my job description  - I am the dtt - designated trailer tow-er. Yep, I got the call, bring the car and trailer. Looking south from the boat ramp at the whitecaps etc, I was so relieved racing is "secret men's ...

Tipsea survived the day without any injuries or damage (thank goodness), however they pulled out after picking up a crewmember who had fallen off another yacht and was drifting quickly away from it. They got him safely on board with a bit of difficulty due to the conditions, went into Raby Bay to ge...

Hey Boomer Nigel is on roster at VMR Shorncliffe on Sunday 31st Aug from 6am to 5pm, if you want to go down & have a look and a chat. The ramp is pretty good unless it is dead low tide, pontoon is a distance away but there is a sandy beach between the ramp and pontoon that you can come in on - not a...

Poor Drikko
The cause of occasional brain fade is "lack of sailing" - get out there, get some salt air into the lungs - guaranteed to fix the problem.
I have the same problem, I haven't been out since Aust. Day weekend, and the brain fades are coming through thick and fast these days. :(

Assume you mean the Wintersun run by Royal Queensland YS?
Go to their website, click on Marine Sports, scroll down and you can download off the internet.
Hope this is of help. Better be quick, it's on 5/6 July.

I think I'll keep mine too, so long as he doesn't try to wash the windows too much while I'm on board and continues with the joke "racing is secret men's business" so I can stir him and especially his crew by threatening to come along  .

Hi Chris We have our Magnum insured thru' CGU - have had a couple of claims with them over the years without dramas. Blue jellyfish  My first intro to sailing (at 19) was in a 12ft Thorpe which Nigel had built himself. Heading out of Cabbage Tree Ck, Shorncliffe on Good Friday to watch the start of the B2G, got to the mouth of the creek, wall to wall blue jellyfish!! He was threatened that if we went over, wo...

We're piking out on sailing over Easter again this year as the weather is always, or nearly always, terrible, especially on the way back to Shorncliffe on the Monday. 20-30knot winds, we have all decided we don't need. Been there, done that. Instead our cruising group are changing accommodation to 1...

To tell you the truth, it would be nice to go on just one race but I make the most of the time when I'm "home alone" and can do m...
