Sandpiper - Mackay to Airlie

Post by court750 » Sep 15th, '14, 17:31

We launch Sandpiper on Wednesday 17 Sept to start a slow cruise through the Whitsundays. In a week or so, we will stop at Airlie Beach and find a way of coming back to pick up the car and trailer. We have around a month allocated to the area. It would be great to catch up with other TSPers.

Literally or figuratively? We did stop for a day in Rockhampton and checked out Rosslyn Bay as a possible launch on way down. Sorry if we did actually drive past.

Just meant you passed by Yeppoon. Glad to see you made it down to the coast. Happy to join up for a sail if you decide to call in on the way back.

Hi guys,
we are still in the area on the cat till mid October when we start to sail her home. We are currently anchored in Plantation Bay off Linderman Island. Very quiet and no charter boats. With the northerly winds predicted over the next few days it makes a nice run down this way. The wind starts to come back Sunday to the S/E. This is a area not really visited enough by boaters. Great sandy anchorages. More sandy beaches and plenty of places to hid in all winds.
With southern school holidays on we have noticed an increase in charter boats out and about at the moment. The Newcastle Hunter Trailer Yacht club is cruising around the area at the moment. Great people and always up for a chat for fellow trailers sailers. I think they are up for at least another two weeks.
If you happen to see a Lagoon 41 catamaran with grey covers and named Sunshine (look closely small letters) make sure you come over for a cuppa/drink.

Might get busier yet, as far as I can see there are no school holidays on at the moment. QLD, Vic, NSW start the end of this week and the rest of the states on the 26th. Might be a few early birds, cheaper on the cusps.

make sure you call in to Yeppoon on your way south, would be nice to meet :)

cheers

We are spending two nights (Fri Sat 25/26 Sept) in Hamilton Harbour. Its been a wonderful 10 days working our way up from Mackay.

???? Why is this thread in the Keeler's forum? Sandpiper is most definitely a TS.
