Show me the pics Andy , and remember: no reefing below 35 Knots !
AndyP wrote: That is nothing in the bay!! We reef at 35 knots.
Trust me, full sail in 30knots and that boat is only just starting to power up!!! In S2C in 2011, we only reefed because the spreader was tearing a hole in the main, and that was 30knots, gusting 35's. Second reef went in after we got some 40knot gusts. Conditions now are similar to that S2C, maybe gusting 10knots more. The anemometer on the binks is actually reading less than s2c!

Woohoo we have power back on. Not going into the CBD today to sit in traffic funnelled down one major road.

Anyone need anything? We have a 40l 12v fridge if anyone needs it.

btw Lake Samsonvale is closed until further notice.

Catch a bus Ron.
I need the overtime to pay my annual boat insurance.
BTW the traffic in the CBD was good today. I'm guessing that everyone was thinking like you.
Word of warning though. If it's good today it will be horrendus tomorrow.

Cheers
Chris

We went up early to check the boat for leaks and mould after all this rain. NONE! :D Then the sun came out, so we dropped her in the water and had a great day out there. Down to Tipplers and back. No power boats around and just one other sailer in a 30' hard chine that I could not recognise the design of.

Easterlies again tomorrow, so we are off sailing again. Only 10 knots, so should be a gentle cruise up and down. 8)

Got the boat in up at lake samsonvale and got out for a couple of hours. If anyone wants an alterative to bashing it out in the bay this windy weekend just let me know. Pulling the boat out on Monday arvo and planning to go up everyday.

Or low emission two stroke. That rules out anything under 40hp right?

yeah pretty sure there are no small direct injected 2 strokes

hopefully they will allow overnighting on Wivenhoe again ..
I really like sailing there and would consider swapping to a 6 hp 4 stroke
apparently there are some really nice spots to overnight ... rocky gorges etc

wind can be a bit fickle at times though

Typical SE Qld easter rains have started ;)

I was going to go sailing tomorrow, but the rain is hampering my enthusiasm :(

Well, I went out anyway. Went to Wivenhoe. I don't know what the wind speed was, but it was strong at some points. I only managed to check the GPS speedo once and we were doing 5.3 knots.

I saw another boat on the lake after we'd already packed up. It looked like a Careel.

We went to caloundra and moored outside the power boat club. Weather was great and the kids never left the water. No sailing though just camping.

Weather prevailing we should be up at Lake Samsonvale from Wednesday to Friday this week, if anyone wants to come up for a float you're more than welcome.
