The Clarence River Yacht Club has just finished it's Classic Cruise and Classic Race (yesterday). Yachts commenced The Classic Cruise last Sunday (14 Oct) at Grafton. Stopped for lunch at Ulmarra Pub. Then Brushgrove Pub for dinner and the night. Monday sailed to Lawrence for lunch and then onto Harwood for dinner and a sleep. The next day boats gathered at the Harwood bridge waiting for the bridge to open at 10am. Then a pleasant sail to Iluka. 2 nights tied up to the Iluka floating jetty. Dinner in Sedges Reef Hotel. Sightseeing in Yamba. A bit of excitement was had during the second night when the wind picked up to 24knots.
Up to 13 boats joined the cruise. Some joining the cruise as they made their way down river and some staying at Iluka. Thursday morning sailed to Harward Bridge and had lunch while waiting for the bridge to open at 2:30. Then onto Maclean for dinner at the Returned Services Club and a peaceful night at the jetty. The next morning 9 boats competed in the Classic race from Maclean to Ulmurra with a few others just coming along for the sail. Dinner in the Ulmarra Pub and one more night tied up to the Ulmarra jetty. Some people preferring to leave early and get their boat out of the water as they have a long way to go home. Some boats had traveled long distances from as far away as Sydney Glen Innes and Bribie Island.
I think everyone had a great time. Good sailing, Nice weather. Good food and good company. What more could anyone want. If you weren't there that is too bad but then there is always next year. If you would like an invite for next year leave a message on the facebook group "Clarence River Yacht Club".

Meant to do this some time ago but better late than never I guess.
Crew of Richard and Don sailed (motor-sailed) with Captain Mac on the good ship Savannah this year and we are still 3 happy-chappies.
Met up with some old friends and made some new ones but overall had a great time.
Can't recall how many B-Doubles cross the Harwood Bridge between 10pm to Midnight but it was quite a lot before we went to sleep. (and sleep we did).

Apologies to all for not trying harder during the race but we had a good time just participating.

Thanks again to the organisers and their helpers for another wonderful cruise and hope to see you all again on the next Clarence River Classic Cruise
