(BOAT_TRAILER - TRAILER) BOAT

Located Runaway Bay in QLD, $1995 with a 240V winch on boatsales.com

Sort of a boat trailer, with everything that makes it a trailer missing, but that doesn't make it a boat:

At $2k it costs about the same as a year or two of antifouling. I tripped over it looking at jetty prices around Paynesville.

The SC25 appears to be identical to my current boat "SaltPeter" and is a drop keel version, probably built under survey for the Marc Hall Marine (now Riviera Nautic) charter fleet in Metung.

It might even be my original boat "Gandalf".

Has a hydraulic keel which can be very tricky and expensive to fix if it needs work.

Original engine was a Volvo single cylinder so this engine would be smoother and better if it is in good nick.

If it is in good condition, it would be a great buy.

I am going down next week for a holiday and some sailing on "SaltPeter" so will check it out.

Your'e finding some real bargains I reckon!
I bought my Careel about 3.5 years ago for $9900 and sold it about 2 years ago for $9700. It recently sold for under 7K I believe
It really is amazing how much TS prices have dropped in the last 2 years or so. 20 percent or more in most cases I reckon, deffinate buyers market! I hate to sound negative (or positive if you're a regular buyer like Mel and Coops) but I doubt prices will ever recover...

Can only agree. The prices reflect, usually, the need/desire to sell and the lack of potential buyers out there. I am now in the position of trying to sell the careel, Bundy, and know that i will not get my money back, even from as recently as last year. :( Ah well, swings and roundabouts.

From what I have seen Paul, over the last 40 odd years, prices generally seem to stay within a range of the original price and 70% of the original price over the long term (without adjusting for inflation) - will probably be back up to the prices of 2-3 years ago in another 6 years or so ie. getting back towards the long term trend line. In 2007/2008 we saw a BIG spike in a lot of material assets - then came the GFC (a collapse in World financial confidence), the skyrocketing A$ and the influx of extremely cheap Chinese imports.

As someone on this forum observed the other day the real expense is in the repairs, maintenance, insurance, rego and storage - most of the time (apart from right now of course) you tend to get most of your purchase price back, unless of course the boat deteriorates badly or gets damaged. If the Australian dollar pulls back to 70 cents sometime in the future it could have a big effect on things, making imported boats and resin more expensive.

I know nothing of them, but did consider it. IMO it looks like a european design - I thought that it had potential to be quite quick.

Enjoy,
Mat.

Hey Coops, it may be a bit annoying that you are going to get a coupla grand less than what you (we) feel Bundy flyer is worth, however I guess you have to look at it that you got that super fine looking Sunmaid at a coupla grand less than it should be, so you're not losing really 8)

That's right, as i said, swings and roundabouts. However, it does somewhat "p" you off when you know that you are selling a damn good boat for less than it is really worth. :?
