Gippsland Lakes 2013/2014

Post by colect149 » Jan 6th, '14, 19:49

Came down 27/12, Weather good, did a but of sailing and ended up in Duck Arm with the Sonatas for New Years Eve, What a setup, they showed the full movie of South Pacific and they were suitably dressed for the occasion. Then an overnight in Paynesville and down to Boxes Creek hiding from stong winds for two nights. Then down to Lakes Entrance, he front came through late evening, Bairnsdale airport was registering 87kmh and Ireckon it was about that here and it is still blowing our socks off. We are lucky enough to be on a floating jetty, but the two foot swell is making the jetty writhe like a demented snake. Oh well, hope springs eternal and the weather might moderate before we have to go home.. Excuse the typos, not easy typing on a boat leaping about, straing at it,s lines.

Yes Mal....oh what a night it was (New Years Eve)....and the view of the fireworks over the water from the Duck Arm point was pretty spectacular. We headed home on the 4th having seen the forecast but the fuel consumption was knocked around a bit with a ferocious headwind back to Melbourne. We wondered where everyone was going to hide out through the winds and hope Benny didn't mind the swell in Lakes Entrance.
Cheers,

The members of the assoc are very creative...so a white canvass sheet specific to the creation is brought out, a frame of spinacker poles created and lo and behold a cinema in
the bush comes alive.... what a marvellous group of people
cheers.
