Sailing our RL28 trailer sailer out of Able Point Marina Airlie Beach to explore the central Whitsunday Islands. With 10 days we circumnavigate Whitsunday and Hazelwood Islands visiting Gulnare inlet and discover an old timber tramway. Windy bay and then White Bay on Hazelwood Island are our next stops to explore and snorkel on Hazelwood Reef. With signs of cyclone damage everywhere we were hopeful that this sheltered reef may have escaped. The coral and fish life were good but even here damage was seen. Chance bay and Hill Inlet were our next stops. Except for the first and last days of our trips we had near perfect weather with sunshine and light winds. Hope you enjoy the video.

Sailing our RL 28 trailer sailer “Neringa” through the central Whitsundays. The journey continues into Hill Inlet at the northern End of Whitehaven Beach, a paradise for trailer sailers and other shallow draft boats. After 2 relaxing days of exploring beautiful location by dinghy and by foot we head north for Nara Inlet. Along the way we hook a 60cm Bonito Tuna. Nara is a superb anchorage with rock art and climbing ashore. When exploring by dinghy we discover more reminders of the power of cyclone Debbie with 2 boats stranded on the rocky shoreline by cyclonic winds and storm surge. On the sail back to Able Point we hit 30 knot winds in the passage with Neringa handling it beautifully.

Ten days well spent, Mark. You did well to get to Chance and Waite south-facing bays, both favourites. The water clarity looked improved. Nice video report. Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks again for the tips before we went. We had an incredible run with the weather, had to pinch myself every so often to check it was really that good. Never sure about the name of Waite/white bay. I have seen both used in books and charts, White probably more often.
Cheers Mark

Another excellent Mdedman production. If anybody is thinking of taking up TS'ing all they would have to do is watch a couple of your short films and they would be hooked. Awesome. 8)

Coops.

Thanks Coops, love to share the joy that is TS'ing, if it inspires anyone to take up sailing or get out sailing more often it makes the work of putting them together all worthwhile.

Cheers Mark
