Horizon Shores Marina hard stand

I was advised last week by Horizon Shores that they are no longer accepting boats for their hard stand. It seems that whole area including that racking adjacent to be converted to a large caravan park with its own marina for launching and mooring . There are huge sheds next to the lift out area for ...

Re: replace 27mhz radio?

If you do not have a radio operators licence you will not get an MMSI number to load into your radio. If you do not know what MMSI is for I strongly suggest you get a VHF operators licence .
Checkout the AMSA web site.

This was set up on my boat when I got her. I could see position of red flag attached to elastic from cockpit. Wire broke after many years and I did not bother to replace

Re: Who said it was easy to push a TS off the beach

Ever tried getting an rl 28 back into deep enough water? MPONR a few years back , we tried everything from crowds pulling halyards to wiggling her bum and nose around. There must have been 20 able bodied people- you did well. You just reminded me it was my second time stranded on a beach. 1978 Stor...

Who said it was easy to push a TS off the beach

Had the two grandsons out for a sail yesterday and as the winds were mild we nudged Mango into the beach on South Stradbroke Island , set the anchor on the beach and had a lovely lunch at Tipplers Restaurant. My first time and it looked typical Qld. to see people walking in barefoot /boardies just o...

Re: New Members Introductions

That's a change from your daughter's pontoon. Did she suffer badly with the flood? Ha sure is .And I have to pay! The arm I am on is an older one and tucked away. It is mainly occupied by old farts like me so pretty friendly. The guy I share the pen with is a live aboard so keeps on eye on my boat ...

Re: New Members Introductions

I am permanently moored in the Northern GC and depending on the wind have the option of sailing north up the main channel around the Islands and further into the Southern reaches of Moreton Bay or heading the other way past Jacobs Well to the Broadwater and either sailing north up to Jumpin Pin and ...

Re: Centipede sail lash ,anyone tried

Some very practical suggestions thanks . It will be a blessing to chuck those two ball bungees .
I use a downhaul for the headsail with great effect but am unsure about using one on the main . I will still have to go up to tie down the sail. I will try above before going the lazy jack way. Thanks

Centipede sail lash ,anyone tried

Got myself in a bit of a mess out sailing Wed. Having a great sail on a reach with full sail and genoa. When It was time to turn around I dropped the genoa as winds were gusting to 17kn on the wind gauge and sailed with main alone playing the mainsheet in the gusts. I started the OB in idle as a pre...

Boy Tipplers cafe was packed , counted 26 jetskis on the beach plus all the anchored cruisers. You will be thankful ...

Re: small spark and old fuel dont mix

I am guilty of using old fuel in outboards, mowers, chainsaw and cars. But I have never had a problem. Any problems have been crud in the carby bowl. Current aquisition is a 1956 car that had not been run for two years. The carby had a lot of crud in the bowl and jets, the accelerator pump was seiz...

Re: Condition report for 3rd party insurance

New wave will ask for one at some stage. If the boats over 20yrs they want one. I just remove the clubmarine logos etc from their form and get surveyor to fill that out. Sent from my SM-A705YN using Tapatalk Just renewed in January. Been with them 4/5 years , first registered in 1985 . Never asked ...

In that vein I have a Suzuki DF 6A 4st. hanging off the back of Mango which is permanently berthed. I leave the motor on the transom on full tilt to keep out of the water. After a week she takes around 15 pulls to start which is a pita. Seems from searching google common problem with these when left...

Just an update . When sorting out the assy and sock today at home I discovered why the sock only came down halfway. The downhaul line had curled ( twisted) at the block entry in the sock jamming. I’ll put on a new line and give the sock another go..
