Re: Why did you marry your wife
Too many wonderful aspects to her, can't remember which one it was that pushed you over the line?ozsailer wrote:Why Did I marry my wife. I cant remember
A man's boat is his Castle. The Gippsland Lakes are my moat. Castle 650 #10, Roller Coaster.
Re: Why did you marry your wife
I asked that question myself about one month after the wedding.
She had by then decided that she did not like sailing after all and that staying home and drinking whisky was a better proposition.
She liked the first before,, and showed no indication of the second until after the wedding.
Made it through a year and then i punted her onto the next poor sod, who was also an alcoholic, so they got on well together.
Still, i always said that i did not want kids and did not want to get married, decided that at nineteen, and lasted until 40 so not too bad and did not cost me much in the end.
Coops.

Re: Why did you marry your wife
It's a little complicated, basically... I married my wife for several reasons, mainly that she was light enough to be Forward Hand, was available to help when the boat needed cleaning etc, but mainly that she got on well with my girlfriend who doubled as pitcrew for the race car.
Unfortunately the overheads in running a boat, a race car AND two females became excessive and I had to make a choice...
Luckily I chose the boat and the race car .
All is well that ends well. Ohh, I forgot, there was a house in the expenses as well, I left the two girls to fight over that.. You see, a solution can be found to most problems if you think laterally.

I never married my wife. By law, she is a wife though. I cant get divorced, but if she leaves me I am just as farked. Why spend all that money on a wedding?
Anyway, after I vowed to never ride a motorcycle ever again after a crash, she could not handle my whining about not riding and bought me a motorcycle. Surely that's worth something?

Maybe she holds a secret life insurance policy...AndyP wrote:I never married my wife. By law, she is a wife though. I cant get divorced, but if she leaves me I am just as farked. Why spend all that money on a wedding?

Re: Why did you marry your wife
Got sick of conniving, cheating, whingeing or possessive girlfriends
I thought, my god she's beautiful and a decent person
After living with her for a year, the proposal just bubbled out of me one day
Since then it's been: You idiot, you bought a farm?! OK then let's make something of it
Or: Oh no, you haven't bought another boat (or car) have you?! OK, well we'd better use it. Where will we go?
I still value the days when she visits her family interstate when I can sleep in, not shave, leave mess and surf the net all day without feeling guilty, but sunsets on the boat just aren't the same without her

Hours spent sailing are not counted in man's allotted time on earth.

Re: Why did you marry your wife
My mother said "marry that one, because you will never find another one that good that will put up with you".
After 26yrs, it was great advice.
